I work hard, have the responsible routine on lockdown. I am also fairly outgoing, love going out, grabbing a drink and seeing what kind of adventure I can end up in. The problem? 1) Go to a supermarket. 2) Obtain the necessary items for a proper footlong turkey sandwich. Items are as follows: sliced turkey, hickory smoked bacon, imported swiss cheese (get imported or -), an avocado, a head of lettuce, two of the biggest plumpest tomatos, a jar of mayonnaise, a jar of expensive mustard, a freshly baked sub roll, a bottle of wine, and a bar of your choice. 3) Take said ingredients home. Place bar in freezer. 4) Make a footlong turkey-bacon-swiss sandwhich, complete with avocado, tomato, and lettuce. Add mustard and mayonnaise to garnish. Toast the bread, add the toppings, cut, and wrap. 5) Pack the sandwich, the wine, a wineglass, the other avocado, a knife, some extra paper towels, the bar, and a beach towel. 6) Go find a quiet place out on a beach, preferrably away from everyone. 7) Eat said sandwich. The turkey probably came from the US. The swiss came from somewhere in Europe (you *did* buy the imported swiss, right?) The avocado came from Mexico. The mayo, well, you didn't buy a jar with either of the words Kraft or Lite on it, too. Two continents worked to make your sandwich. Isn't that cool? 8) Assuming you found a beach, well done. Think about this somewhere out in the ocean, the Earth is slowly but surely pushing out more and more continental shelf as a result of the tectonic pressures placed on each of the continental plates. So, you're eating a sandwich while riding the world's biggest conveyor belt. Isn't that cool? 9) Eat the bar. Notice that icy feeling as it goes down your throat? That feeling of cold is literally the sensation of heat transferring to the as it warms its way toward degrees. Just in time for the stomach acids! Isn't that cool? 10) Drink the wine, and at just how cool life really is when you think about it. If you still find life bad after all that, well, then I confess you've lost me. This place is too damn cool to feel bad for. And I've done my fair share of "ah hell" moments too. But I gotta say, this place is too cool for that. We fly around in giant metal tubes with rockets attached to them. COOL.
